When (why?) did adult women calling themselves “girlies”

It does not offend me but when I encounter a woman who talks like this, I do assume she is insecure and doesn't take herself seriously as an adult.

I do this with one friend from college . She started it. We’re in our late 30s. Would never use it with a stranger or anyone else really.

Seriously? That's intense. I'm 56 and I could care less. I wouldn't judge it's just not my thing.
