Gift ideas? $400 for mid-50s woman

What about a nice bracelet? These easily convert to charm bracelets, if she’d like that look.

I’m a 50 yo UMC woman and, if I’m being honest, love being surprised with unexpected gifts.

A spa gift certificate is always nice. If she’s into candles and bath goods, the Diptyque summer gift box would be nice. It’s the kind of thing I’d love but wouldn’t buy for myself even though I could.

Thanks for the ideas. It’s actually a gift from me and my brothers do weekend away won’t work. I think she’d appreciate jewelry- she’s kind of in to ‘on trend’ items (or at least has given me them in the past) but I don’t even know where to start with that.

Get this Cuyana tote monogrammed, and/or with the insert. This is the most useful bag I own and it stores everything. Get it in a fun color.

+1 for David yurman jewelry. Their sterling silver pieces are reasonable compared to mother fashion houses. DY is pretty on trend these days. I recently bought myself a pair of earrings and I am in my early 50s.

A Wal-mart gift card and an oversized t-shirt that says, “I don’t need birth control pills, I’ve hit menopause!”

This will help her learn how the other half lives. Let your gift be a Life Lesson.

Anonymous wrote:I’m looking for a good gift idea for my sister who really stepped up recently to help with some family stuff. Budget is $400. She’s pretty typical mid-50s upper middle class. Any ideas for jewelry or other popular personal or house stuff? She’s much more into trends than I am and I’m feeling a bit lost.

Is she actually into that stuff or would she rather do something? I personally hate jewelry as a gift. What do you mean by trends?

For $400?! That'd be a really crappy getaway!

If I had a sister who rented a small cabin for 2 nights for $300 in the middle of nowhere and brought $100 of groceries and we chilled in a hot tub and read library books and went for hikes…I would love that getaway. A getaway does not have to be expensive.

Don't throw the money away. It is really hard to get something that someone actually likes. What about a giftcard to a nice restaurant?

Not OP, but I really like that tote.

This is where we can’t give you advice. Several people like this. I opened the link and thought - who would spend money on a white tote that would get dirty. I wouldn’t pay any money for this.

I’m sure the OP could find a bag in another color, it was just an idea.
