This actually seems like a fairly sensible way to do this for middle school. But in practice, aren’t there at least 20 kids who have straight As all through middle school? Why don’t they wind up with a ton of co-valedictorians?

Are there any schools where all As are equivalent? Ours uses a 100 point system, so you could have a GPA of 97 or 92, both As but very different.

I don’t know since our kid will just be starting in the fall but think that’s great.

Good motivation for kids who are motivated by these things Also good to recognize those who work hard and do well.

Real world life lessons not this equity BS.

Ha ha with your way of thinking good luck at DCI.

There is not a policy from what I know. However, I have worked at 4 DCPS middle schools that all did Valedictorian and Salutatorian based on GPA across middle school.

Yes, I've been to two DCI middle school graduations.

One year, about 6 kids were acknowledged (because of "ties"), and the other year it was just 2.

My kid completed 8th grade two years ago, and they announced the Valedictorian and Salutatorian at the graduation ceremony.

Hm are the gpas weighted? I’m guessing not but seems unfair to the kids taking the advanced math and language courses. It’s just middle school so whatever.
