There will be a Covid vaccine. You can only get it if you're over 65 or have health issues. Reminds me of when the first vaccines came out. It's no longer recommended for pregnant women or children. |
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight those magnanimous pharma corporations are all altruistic and don't care about profits. "Corporations are people" is what you say right? |
Why is that? Limited production? Or just that insurance won't cover it for anyone under 65? |
Either the FDA or CDC's decision. They say they want to study the vaccine more but I wonder if it's RFK's influence. The news segment said that only 25% of the U.S. gets a covid booster so I still think anyone who wants one will be able to get it. The list of medical issues is very long, basically everything. I don't know how many people will want to pay for it though. |
A covid shot too but just might not necreccomnded for all. |
I think the insurance folks are trying to figure this out. Ordinarily, they cover vaccines that are recommended by public health experts. That’s an easy way to make sure they aren’t paying for HPV vaccines for 80 year olds and shingles vaccines for 20 year olds and malaria vaccines for people who live in Ohio etc etc. But they actually do want to cover COVID vaccines for people because it’s a lot cheaper than paying for hospital care if someone gets really sick. So the RFK maga folks are putting them in a little bit of a situation here. Also query whether the manufacturers will make enough if they think insurance won’t cover it or people won’t get it. I assume they don’t want a ton surplus that they have to throw out. So there may be shortages. |
Because HHS is being run by unqualified idiots. |
You are an idiot. Sit down. |
I haven’t been following COVID vaccine news closely. Not recommended by RFK or actual reputable scientists who previously recommended it? |
The remaining confusion is whether insurance will cover the Covid vaccine for those outside of the new recommended categories. Other than that, the shots will be available. |
So RFK Jr said it's not recommended, but the actual guidelines apparently still say that children can get it after consulting a healthcare provider. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/covid-19-shots-for-healthy-children-remain-on-cdc-vaccine-schedule-despite-kennedy-s-pledge-to-remove-them/ar-AA1FO1Ac?ocid=BingNewsSerp |
Precisely. The pharmaceutical industries rule Washington. Everyone knows that. |
No, we don't. We understand a lot more than you do about biomedical engineering. |
