sopranos totally overrated

No way.

But also writing aside the acting is phenomenal. Like Edie Falco in particular is amazing.

First season is a bit cheesy before the writing hit its groove.

And the Dr Melfi parts are pointless. Fast fwd thru all of them.

Other than that it’s extremely entertaining.

I can only think of one reason why someone would have that opinion.

Homicide: Life on the Street (also set and filmed in Baltimore) is better than the Wire.

A lot of men love mafia movies. My husband and brothers absolutely love the Godfather movies and Goodfellas and can even quote the lines. I have never even seen The Godfather all the way through. I just don't care for the Mafia inspired stories and find them too violent. But the are very popular with a lot of men. I think Gandolfini was pretty much limited to tough guy/ mob stuff, but her was perfect to bring the character to life. He had an everyman energy that made it seem like he was someone you could really meet in New Jersey ( minus all the murdering Lol).

My young adult son summed it up in one word : it’s a comedy. Now whenever I watch it I find it hilarious! So well done.

Yes, she's great! My favorite character besides Pauly (for the comedy). All the acting is good.

+1 My DH finds it funnier than I do but there’s so much comedy in it. That’s part of what makes viewers root for Tony even though he’s a monster.

The episode where Christopher and Paulie get lost in the Pine Barrens after a botched execution is classic, they hype themselves up as such tough guys, but are really such whiny wimps.

You’re both stupid and insane. The Wire is a GD masterpiece.
