Disney over Thanksgiving? Give me some pros and cons

| We went the day before Thanksgiving last year expecting it to be miserably crowded and I was SO pleasantly surprised. I don’t think we waited more than 30 minutes for anything (except Tron) and we didn’t get any of the skip the line passes. |

As a former teacher, do NOT take off in October. It’s one of the must productive seasons in the school year. The kids have finally learned the routines, they’re still attentive, and we have not hit Halloween yet. The other productive season is January - spring break. Please don’t interrupt your child’s learning for a vacation, unless they’re in preschool. |

Agree with a PP who asked how much money you can throw at this. We went over Christmas and paid for as many lightning lanes passes as possible, and it was quite tolerable. If your kids are older, definitely do Universal too. The skip the line pass there gets you 1 skip at each ride (or multiple times if you want to spend big $$$).
Also, consider Disneyland. |

Sure, but most families aren’t going to Disney for thanksgiving…which is why you see posts saying they were surprised Disney wasn’t crowded on thanksgiving. Fwiw, Disney wasn’t crowded on Easter Sunday either. Because, again, most people are celebrating Easter rather than going to Disney that day. |

PP who traveled to Disney over Thanksgiving. This was exactly my thought that people will be with their families over thanksgiving. Our family and hoards of other families were there on Thanksgiving. It was like being in metro when it’s 1 tracking at 6 pm during rush hour pre-covid. That busy. We still enjoyed but with fast track did at most 3-4 rides per day. |

As a former Disney employee, this wasn't my experience at all. Thanksgiving was a full capacity day. Employees desperately try to trade shifts to get off that day. |

| We went over Thanksgiving 4 years ago. It was normal crowded but not peak crowded. We actually liked it a lot. Wasn't too hot or humid. It was even a little chilly for swimming most of the days. We generally recommend it! |

If you’re not Jewish, the Jewish holidays are often perfect for disney. That’s what we always did. For McPS you could fly down night of 10/16 and fly back 10/30 without missing anything. Or fly down night of 10/1 and fly back 10/5 night and only miss the Friday. |

Did you rope drop? With rope drop you can probably add on 2 more (assuming you don’t just run to stand in the tron line), and could probably add on a couple more if you stay into the evening or are willing to do one long line while you eat an ice cram cone and play games in line. (I won’t do more than one long line per day and I define long as more than 25 minutes—if you are gong to do a longer line stand I highly recommend the headsup game app.) Some rides just basically never have long lines. Right now, Memorial Day Saturday at 1:30, a 9/10 crowd day, I am seeing the following rides with lines less than 15 minutes: Dumbo Tea party Under the sea Carousel of progress Laugh floor (love this one!) Speedway Magic carpet Pirates Philharmonic Enchanted tales with belle Living with land Figment journey Turtle talk The seas Spaceship earth Mission space Grand fiesta Star tours (5 minutes!) Kilimanjaro safaris Also if you’re willing to do single rider at Everest you can basically always do that under 15 minutes and often it’s a walk through. |
