OP here. Of course we've been using the real names for penis and vagina her whole life. I'm not sure what else I would call them? |
+1. This is not cool, OP. I would get her away from this crowd of friends while you still have some influence. |
| No definitely not normal. Not at age 10. Maybe at age 16. I would be concerned but it doesn’t seem like you’ve told her it’s inappropriate. I’d be worried about sexual activity at a young age. My parents were also strict about this but I agree with their stance. |
| Yes, 100% normal and I have no idea who all these PPs are trying to fool. It is a way to be provocative and funny, while digesting all that they are now learning about bodies. It is the natural step from fart jokes. |

| No. What awful school does she go to? I would invest in private next year. |
16! If you have a kid giggling about balls jokes at 16, you have a very immature kid. This is the kind of thing kids find funny before puberty. |
Trolls everywhere |
| This is not normal for a 10 yo girl. |
At my highly rated private school, girls were talking in detail about blow jobs and boys fondling their breasts at age 12... I think those who are shocked about their behavior don't realize what their kids talk about behind their backs. |

These posters are all nuts (see what I did there).
Of course it’s normal for 5th graders of both genders to make “ball” jokes. It would be weird if they didn’t. They are approaching puberty, testing boundaries verbally, and learning about their bodies (health class, peers, parents, internet, etc). When my 5th grader launches into this talk, I don’t freak out (hell, sometimes he’s funny) but ask if he knows what it means. If he doesn’t, I explain it in an age appropriate way. I also talk a lot about situational awareness. A well-timed “that’s what she said” is a winning joke—but not at church, at school, or around adults you don’t know. I would expect girls to grow out of potty humor in middle school and boys to grow out of it by age 69. |
| No. I've never heard my 10 year old DD or her large friend group talk like that. |
That’s because they were involved in all that. At least by 8th grade. |

This is not normal language for my 10-yr old and her friends.
