Yah, but it’s supposed to be based on times. Top 4 times relay A, 2nd best 4 times relay B

Time trials aren't for a couple of weeks. No one has times yet.

This is obviously a troll, but I'll answer anyway. Summer swim hasn't even started yet.

If this happened for real you ask the coach and/or team rep. As a team rep I've had a parent ask why their kid wasn't swimming in the A meet when their kid was faster than the 3rd swimmer in a certain stroke. We asked our coach. It was just an honest mistake. Usually it gets caught before the list is sent out, but not always.

There are no B relays in summer swim. This is such a troll post.

My summer league (not in this area) had A, B and maybe even C relays. I can't remember but it was at least two. We also had both a medley and a free relay for each age group and gender. But I believe the oldest age group was 13 and over, not split 13-14 and 15 and over.

Other differences: IM was a scored event and only for 11-12 and up, and there were no A/B meets. Every meet was scored and everyone got to swim, even if it was just on a B or C relay or two. I think it was so much better than how this area does things.

Same experience as you, and wholly agree that one long meet with multiple relays/team/age bracket is better than A and B meets.

Our NVSL summer swim team typically has lanes by speed, but I know from my daughter who was an assistant coach that they had to split up the fastest 9-10 boys into different lanes, because they were fooling around/play fighting whenever they were in the same lane. So perhaps that is an issue at your pool.

You mean the team that won All Star Relays the last two years? Pretty sure they are putting the fastest kids in the relay, don't you think?

Some areas (CA and TX?) have already done time trials. They get out of school much earlier than DC area.

Not doubting that this is a troll post, but yes summer swim has A and B relay teams!

MCSL teams swim A & B relays, but most of those pools don’t start until after Memorial Day.
