If your first born has an ethnic name, did you give the rest of the kids ethnic names too?

I wouldn’t worry about using the American nickname, if the name itself works in both.

I gave my kids names that work in English and in my heritage language. They are pronounced similarly but not identically across the languages, and it hasn’t been a problem.

Not really, bc Colleen and Patrick have been absorbed into American culture. It's not like you named them Aisling and Cormac or Cillian and then Emily.
