Swim Club: New member incentives

Do you offer discounted August memberships? Our pool did that and that’s how we started with them. It’s a nice way to be able to try out the pool with a lesser commitment.

Yes. Late July to Labor Day.

Our club has a waiting list in MoCo so we don’t have incentives for new members. This year though, we’re waiving our capital improvement fee due to the uncertainty for many local families or members.

I suggest donating a membership to PTA auctions, advertising on local elementary school listserves etc. Kids always want to go to the pool where their friends are.

Name the pool! My brother goes to a pool in Springfield, I forget the name. I know membership is down, but when I went I thought it was a nice pool. Let people know you have space.

If you have a swim team you are trying to fill, try and have a couple times a week evening practice for kids who go to camp. If you get them in one year, maybe the next year parents will do a babysitter instead of camps.

AFAIK, none of these clubs in the Springfield area have waitlists:

I'm sure there are others.

A once a month adult social for families to get to know each other. Maybe it's a 30 minute social followed by an event.

Not OP, but come to the Burke/Springfield/eastern Fairfax/outside-the-Beltway area. Pools are closing down due to lack of members, there are no bonds, everyone has incentives, with the exception of a tiny number of high swim division pools.

You should offer the pool to a local daycare or summer camp. I wish more camps had this option.

Yep, there are many pools close to each other in Annandale, Springfield, Burke, and Fairfax areas. You don't have to stay in your subdivision pool. If your pool is crowded or you don't like it for any reason, just drive down a couple miles and join a new pool. You might like it better there. Pricings are comparable across the pools.

Not OP, but there are a LOT of pools in the Springfield area and a good number are dying for members. Arlington has no pools - so those on the beltway get a lot of Arlington (and even DC) members.

The ones that have waitlists can be 4 to 5 times the cost to join, but that could be a result of supply/demand.
