I'm 62 and 5'8" -180. I wear a 25 pound vest and walk three miles over a quite hilly terrain. I don't know if its good or bad for me, but it makes the walks harder and more interesting. I walk at a 19 minutes pace.
I go to the gym twice a week where I work with a trainer on weights and balance. After my work out, I walk on the treadmill at a 15 minute pace on an incline. I like the weighted vest because it makes my walks - which i know very well - more interesting and challenging. Now that its getting warmer, I work up quite a sweat. |
You need to talk with your doc about this. It should be used in limited amounts, just like other weight training. Ladies are wearing them around all day and ending up with stress fractures- not joking. |
