There’s a lot of music stuff coming up such as Orchestra, Band, Choir, Theater rehearsals/shows/concerts. Also, Hershey Park field trip.

Even in elementary school, there is still new content after SOLs.

OP here: my kid just watched movies.

+1 Many ‘shorts’ like Magic School bus, or other 30 min programs, but then back to back anyway.

For 7 hours a day for 20 days? Unlikely.

I have 2 more weeks of new instruction (topics I didn't get to before SOL), 2 weeks of final exam review (4 class periods) and then the final.

Sorry, my kids class at Carson is reading Taming of the Shrew in class. They have a quiz this week. Maybe you should email the Teacher and Principal? Maybe they are not doing much until the math SOL is completed so there is less pressure on the kids?

This has been an issue across the COunty, some schools continue teaching after the SOL. Other schools seem to stop all efforts except working with the kids who failed the SOL. You won't have to worry about it in 2 years because the SOL is being moved tot he last 2 week of school.

That's nuts. 😳

My seventh grade Honors English student has eight grades, six of which are summative, still listed in SIS and Schoolgy, and the last grade seems to be on June 9.

She still has two quizzes, three annotation grades, a writing assignment, and two formative grades to go.

Her teacher is obviously teaching up to the end of school.

I think some of the Honors classes use the time to cover additional extensions that are not tested on the SOL. My kid is in a foreign language and Algebra 1 H, so he has finals in those classes that they are working toward.

I would not be counting on being able to miss much school. It could be different at your childs school.

Carson 7th grader? Sounds like my kid

I found the ones with a final exam kept teaching and my kids always said the final was much harder than the sol.
