Has anyone gotten a whole house fragrance system?

I no longer use any fragranced body products or laundry detergents or softeners nor candles or incense or room sprays or fabric sprays - it’s all an insult to your precious lungs.

Vinegar is a great natural deodorizer and the actual vinegar scent quickly dissipates. Washing soda is excellent to deodorize and soften laundry. For really tough bathroom odors a medical grade deodorizing spray like ByeByeOdor is best.

This is some serious health anxiety, and should be dismissed as such.

Do 10 minutes of research and let us know if you still think that.

Have you been living under a rock?

I meant it for the poster PP responded to. It has been known for a long time how awful fragrance is for health and how unregulated it is.

Go to Moms organic and buy lavender oil. Make sachets. Get clay diffusers for lightbulbs. Done.

OP, if I came to your house, I would have to leave because I wouldn't be able to stand the smell. None of those things claiming to make your house smell better actually do this - they cover up fresh air with a chemical smell. If you keep your house clean, open the windows on gorgeous days like today, it'll smell great!

I also cannot stay in places with scented stuff.

That frankly sounds awful.

Get multiple diffusers and use organic single ingredient essential oils if you want to do anything remotely like this.

OP, this would give DH migraines and he wouldn’t be able to visit you anymore. Please don’t.

I am allergic to many of those. I avoid AirBnBs because so many owners use them. If I can find plug-ins, I unplug. To make your house smell nice, have plants and open the windows when possible. Who wants to smell chemicals?

It’s your house, if you want it to smell like a Macy’s that’s your choice. I have never seen a whole house fragrance system. I imagine that’s what they use in spas, maybe start there.

I’m another that gets migraines and generally finds these gross.

I do use those gel products that absorb bad smells — I keep one above the dog crate, one in my teen sons bathroom and one in my teen sons bedroom. The rest of the house seems to smell fine. If you are worried about smells, I recommend using a high quality air filter on your hvqc and getting Dyson or similar air filters for room.

I think I’d rather die early having smelled some nice smells rather than live a long life where I wasn’t around anything scented.

The snark and nastiness here is WILD. The only thing more wild is the absolute glut of medical misinformation and hypochondria.

OP asked a simple question. If I had one of those systems, I’d gladly answer. Having visited someone’s home who had one, I enjoyed the subtle scent. And, as a migraine sufferer, I had NO ill effect whatsoever.

People need to relax.

This. Most people's houses smell terrible due to them being lazy and not cleaning properly, and trying to cover up the stank with fragrances.

Even people do this with their own bodies and overuse of perfumes and colognes, scented soaps and such.

Yuck. "Smells like old people" is what the kids have always called it.
