ATC are federal employees who have been attacked by Republicans for years and years. Everyone knows there is no future in this kind work. Why go through the process with its low pay, no job security, long hours, etc. only to be attacked by Congress and the president?

yep. someone with the cognitive skills to be an ATC has a lot of other options.

Coincidentally $61k is about what they pay new USSS recruits. I saw a listing about a year ago and was flabbergasted. My oldest graduated into a $93k job.

They are nuts if they think even 10% of their applicants, even the white christian ones with pure blood, have the requisite skills to hold multiple moving planes in memory for 90 seconds when the screen fails.
