Are you local?

What other weight loss methods have you tried? Do you have a metabolic disorder?

I did it and lost 30 pounds in six months. I would like to lose 10-15 more but this is the lowest weight I’ve been since having a child. It changed my life- I ate healthy before, but just too many calories.

I’ve had limited side effects- if I eat really greasy food I have GI effects but that’s really it.

Ozempic face and breath? Or the diarrhea?

Anonymous wrote:My PCP talked me into Wegovy at my annual physical about a year ago. I finally agreed to it because my A1c was getting a little high. So with both obesity (starting BMI was 36) and an A1c that was creeping up, I gave it a try. FWIW, my weight gain and obesity was as a result of medication.

I’ve lost about 60 pounds over the past year, and I feel so much better now that I’m no longer obese. So I’m glad I went on it. However, it has not been easy. I have had quite severe side effects, and I still have them. And my doctor says, and I agree, that I will need to be on the drug for life. I won’t get into the details of my side effects (because it’s pretty gross) except to say that I’ve had really bad GI side effects and fatigue.

But I had been suffering the health effects of obesity; I have severe obstructive sleep apnea, was having trouble with my knee joints, was always tired, had high cholesterol, etc. And now that I’ve lost weight I am doing so much better. I still have about 20 pounds to lose, and the weight loss is very very slow now, but yeah it’s been worth it.

So I’m excited for you. Hopefully the side effects won’t be as bad for you as they have been for me. Communicate with your doctor about them, and stay on top of them.

Are you off the meds which caused the gain in the first place?

Go for it!

I’m 42 years old, 5’11, and 250 pounds. I am desperate to be healthier, happier, slimmer.

It was quickly and easily approved but I haven’t even processed it or considered it. It was mentioned at my PCP, and approved all within a week.

I’m excited but scared!
Should I go for it?

Run don’t walk. If it works for you it will be the best thing you ever did!!!! I lost 40 lbs and am feeling great, I have my life back. 48yo mother of 2, started at 175, now 135; 5’4”

Lots of people don’t have side effects, for others they resolve after a few weeks

Plastic surgeons are noticing the skin is different in glp-1 patients— the scaffolding. They said it’s more like tissue paper when they do facelifts and of someone much older.

I’m reading that it may accelerate actual aging of the skin…not just look like it because of rapid weight loss,,,but actually change it.

This.

I can’t believe how many posts like this. It so disturbing.

I think it is perfectly normal for you to be a little scared. I do not like taking medications as I tend to get the side effects. But, if you have battled the weight for a long time, it might be worth trying it. You can always stop if you do not like it.

+1 to this. I've lost 32 lbs (227-195). There have been some side effects but nothing horrible (mostly poop). And I just don't think about food all that much anymore.

I lost 40 lbs and it was so good for me - bloodwork was bad and is now great, I can exercise without foot pain, I am no longer worried about heart attack. At 180 lbs I am still 10 lbs overweight by BMI but decided to just hold here as it's a good weight for me (a tall person) and not between clothing sizes.

You still should pay attention to your diet and exercise - you need protein, water, strength training. But it's life changing.
