This is not in the DMV, not sure why OP is posting here.

I am not the OP but this doesn’t seem that hard to imagine from my perspective. There are some very small private schools, we live across the street from one, where they may have 30 kids or less in a grade even through high school.

There is no private school in the DMV, no matter how tiny, that does not offer calculus to its students.

Dual enrollment or take directly at community college. Better than not having it.

Gosh, it’s kind of a wild experience being told you can’t possibly exist. I promise, this is in the DMV! It seems that not just the world but even the DMV is bigger and more varied than some people on this board can imagine.

Thanks very much to the folks who offered helpful suggestions and advice.

I heard an admitted student on the most recent Yale admissions podcast proudly declare she was from the DMV. Then said she was from Virginia Beach. So maybe they live in Virginia, but not Northern Virginia. Do some people actually consider all of Virginia the DMV?

I can’t think of a competitive college that doesn’t demand calculus as part of entrance requirements so this seems very bizarre. At our school juniors and seniors take calculus and beyond.

Mine was admitted to Tufts and Emory without calculus. Not so bizarre.

Private or public school? I just can't get my head wrapped around that a DMV public HS or most of the private schools in the DMV wouldn't offer calculus.

This could only happen at a small parochial school, and not close-in DMV.

Maybe cancelled because it promotes thinking, which is not in vogue with current Administration.

To be fair to all of you, this school holds itself out as offering calculus. It’s on the web site. It’s on the school profile. The course has actually been offered and students have taken it in past years. So you may be thinking of our school as an example of a school in the DMV that offers calculus.

(And yes, it’s a small school. And yes, it’s a staffing issue. And yes, I’d pull my kid if they were a rising sophomore. But it’s much more complicated to pull a rising senior.)

No college demands Calculus as part of their entry requirements except CalTech. CalTech only requires if the school offers it and will accept dual enrollment or even an AP test score of 5 if self-studied.

Because this place is delightfully toxic. You are a bunch of tightly would prestige obsessed fools and you are fun to troll simply by pointing out how consistently incorrect DMV posters are.

Exactly. People truly speak out of their asses on this website. It's ok not to know things and just to stay quiet! Not every uninformed thought you have has to be memorialized on Al Gore's Internet!
