in 2021 Elon Musk’s US PERSONAL US tax bill was $11 billion.
The average pay of a Federal Worker is around $100,000. So he pays approximately personally out of his tax bill 110,000 Fed Workers salaries. This is not corporate tax this is his own money. Now around 140,000 people work at TESLA and SpaceX lets say they make 100K each. He created those jobs .Lets say they are in the 20 percent tax rate. So 140,000 by 100,000 is 140,00,000,000 and 20 percent of that is $2,800,000,000 that's paying another 28,000 Fed salaries. So he is paying 138,000 Fed salaries directly or indirectly. Might have messed up math but you get the point. |
https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax What's your source? ProPublica said "In 2018, Tesla founder Elon Musk, the second-richest person in the world, also paid no federal income taxes." |
He volunteered to get government private information for free. |
So you are using a 2018 source to prove 2021 data? In 2021, Elon Musk paid roughly $11 billion in taxes. This was primarily due to the sale of Tesla stock, including the exercise of stock options, to fund the purchase of Twitter. Musk's 2021 tax bill was a significant amount, potentially the largest ever paid by an individual in a single year. |
Trump donated his salary we well. You don’t need to go back to JFK for that. |
DP. Source? Are you really justifying what Elon has done based on the amount of tax he pays? As in a different set of rules apply to rich people? Or rich people get to influence government because they’re rich? The counter to your point, of course, is that $11 billion is only about 2.8% of his total wealth. Many Americans pay a higher percentage of their net worth in annual taxes, but again, that really should be the determining factor in who gets a say in government. |
Good point, though not exactly eloquently stated.

Have you seen his tax return? I bet he paid zero taxes https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax I also like how you attribute the taxes PAID BY HIS EMPLOYEES from money they earned to Elon. Are you a Doge Bro or a GROK bot? |
He’s getting paid. He has lots of new govt contracts plus the old ones. |
Ironic that you’re crediting him with creating a hundred thousand jobs … which he did in the basis of $billions in federal contracts. By your logic, we created those jobs with our taxes. |
+1. Still waiting for the PP’s source for the info on musk’s 2021 tax return. pP has been asked several times and not responded-so I guess it does not exist. It is clear that Tesla paid 0$ in federal taxes in 2024. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-tesla-paid-less-income-130230653.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAL4LUcazHx1f9wjpsaSjaHur96WG8clI-o4zvj-0l1Cxgm93yPZwOEpWY4vHU73y-nk3CG7h-bDI9DbEETO8_QDz6zFUdXJzCRNQ_bTHHWsXkhWoUuuXZTJr3oYntli8pg3trqBLgWYKOEcCgwPS7ZDcDkyAyz-NXz1Ai6NoG6pE In 2024, Tesla reported $2.3 billion in U.S. income yet paid zero federal income tax. Over the past three years, the company earned $10.8 billion domestically and paid only $48 million in federal taxes, resulting in an effective tax rate of just 0.4%, significantly below the statutory corporate tax rate of 21%. |
| Good leadership means leading by example. If you expect your subordinates to return to office, you sure as heck better as well. |
He’s getting paid in data across government agencies. -NP |
| Our politicals are all working remotely too. That’s why they need badge swipes to see if we’re coming in. |
Forget the math, your logic is messed up. That’s just not how our government works. You don’t get an outsized influence just because you pay more in taxes. |
