I stated at an inn in Guatemala that used them as guard dogs. Guests were not allowed to go near them and they were only let out to roam at night. They are like standard poodles in that they can take the job too seriously and be hard to call off.
I grew up with Schnauzers. Super smart. Super stubborn. Incredibly loyal to their family. They're working dogs and definitely need highly experienced, consistent owners. |
Random mini-schnauzer clip to brighten your Wednesday.

I had a part schnauzer mutt in my 20s. He would hop, it was hilarious to watch. He could also spring from the ground right through the window of my pickup truck into my lap. |
Weird to see big schnauzers now, though. Most are miniature. Maybe it was another breed. |
I’ve had various breeds over the years. Our current dog is part mini schnauzer. She is super smart, incredibly friendly and affectionate. She is also stubborn and can scream when scared. All things I never knew but I would not hesitate to have a mini mix again. I’ve never seen her hop but I’ve seen her sister (different owners), it is adorable! |
