Oh. Gosh. Ok. Hadn't thought of that.

Our keyless lock starts beeping with a special beep when you need to change the batteries. Ours does this for about a month. You'd have to work hard to ignore the warning signs. Also, we have keyless entry on front and back doors so if we got locked out of one we'd just go to the other.

Both next door neighbor and I have keyless front door locks. We also have each other's house keys and codes in case someone gets locked out (hasn't happened yet over a few years). No one's going into the other's house unsolicited.

The batteries are unlikely to go bad at the same time.

Just change them once a year.

Also many models have a battery bypass on the front where you can touch a 9V battery to it and provide enough power for you to unlock it.

Yup. Not to mention monitored by others.
People love new tech and are easily swayed by marketing gimmicks.

If someone really wants to get into your house, they aren't going to bother hacking your keypad. They'll throw a brick through a window.

This is being sold as a lock when it's really just stealing your data and selling it to the highest bidder.

They won't even do this. They'll just check your windows and doors, and if you haven't locked them all, they'll come in.

Or they might shout "Alexa unlock the door."

To be fair, I think all the major apps no longer support voice unlocking.

We have a low-tech Schlage. Its not smart phone or blue-tooth or wi-fi enabled. Its just a key pad and it is awesome! Very simple but effective. It also has a slot for a key which we keep hidden outside should the battery ever die suddenly.

True. Locks are mostly useless when you have unbarred windows.

Even barred windows can be cut in a couple mins with a torch or battery saw.

That too.
Even appliances and light bulbs now have microphones to record everything within range and send it to God knows who.

Same here. I highly recommend. I’ve had mine for about 4 years and haven’t had to change the battery yet, though I have put it on my list of things to do. Mine has the ability to connect a good battery to it if you ever need to.
