Paying to Chaperone Field Trip

My youngest is a senior and I’ve chaperoned countless field trips over the last 20 years, including two this year. I have never once paid. The most I’ve had to do was bring my own lunch.

It might depend on if PTA can cover the cost.

Both trips were to a Smithsonian and done by public school bus - op


I wonder If there is a specific activity that they might have to pay for?


You pay for the bus driver’s time for one. Sometimes also for a group lunch inside of kids bringing money, or an activity such as IMAX. All decided beforehand and principal approved.
