Does anyone know if a 17 year old can be a sleepaway summer camp counselor?

So, basically, being a CIT is not an actual job. It is just camp for older kids at a discounted rate?

My CIT DD will be earning roughly around $300 per week for 9 weeks. She will be an employee, not a camper; campers cap out at 16.

Out our camp you can be a "specialist" (lifeguard, art teacher, archery instructor, etc) at 17 but need to be 18 to be a counselor.
