This is ... the entire reason I take progesterone.

I also feel like he progesterone has helped with sleep but I bserstand OPs point. I feel sleepier for longer and I sleep but I still don’t feel energetic or refreshed. My brain is better as is my anxiety but I like literally can’t wait to get into bed at night which seems problematic

Same here. I love feeling almost human again.

However, I take the progesterone at night and feel very drowsy.... and sleep well. Doc suggested to remedy this, using the oral pills vaginally. Anyone doing his? I just wonder how the pill dissolves and is being absorbed vaginally due to the fact that it is an oral pill.

Another question, if you take progesterone 10 days a month, what is your dosis? TIA

I think using it that way is off-script, but some doctors have been recommending it more commonly.

The below link is to a chart of “roughly” equivalent doses of HRT, which I found helpful:

I took oral amitriptyline for vulvodynia. It gave me crushing anxiety so I stopped. I got compounded cream for the vulva and the next morning I could not get out of bed - side effect of amitriptyline - long story short it still absorbs through the vagina

I was on Menostar and took 10 nights of progesterone each month. Best nights of the month. Slept great,,nice dreams.

Did you stop taking it or switch to something else? I want to step down from the low dose patch to ultra-low, getting mixed responses to that.

Would you mind sharing what test you did for your doctor to see that you needed the HRT? I also have anxiety and sleep poorly but I’ve heard that progesterone levels vary widely so I’m not sure how they can do a test.

OP: Doc didn't do any testing, she concluded because of my weight gain in the last 6 months (8 pds), interrupted sleep and age (56) that I might benefit from HRT. Mens was also gone by more than 6 months by now. Anxiety and sleep definitely got better. I am taking 100 mg progesterone (oral) and 0.05 mg Estradiol (patch)

So she didn't check any of your hormone levels before starting you on hormone supplements? Yikes...

Not yikes. HT is for symptom treatment. May be prophylactic. It’s not corrective and the goal isn’t a return to a fictitious “baseline”
