Your country is not the only country with “tremendous natural resources” such as oil and natural gas. There are other countries in the world that have those resources as well. |
Um, China is in a trade agreement with its mortal enemies Japan and South Korea. https://www.reuters.com/world/china-japan-south-korea-will-jointly-respond-us-tariffs-chinese-state-media-says-2025-03-31/ |
+1 If so you need to return them to Press Room Barbie for a refund. |
Yeah the fireside chat about the loss of US hegemony that the next normal President will have to have with the American people is going to be something. |
That is one way of looking at it, but the main point is that goods are more important than money. Without U.S. trade, China is losing out on cash. Well, that isn’t great, but cash is not as important as goods that you cannot make. Americans are losing out on goods. They need parts for machines, they need microchips, they need semiconductors, they need textiles. They need them so badly that even with 145% tariffs, Americans will still buy them, whereas China can find other sources. People are focused on the dollar amount - China only buys $xx from the U.S., but we buy $2xx! That doesn’t matter as much as people think. It’s not the dollar amount, it’s the pain of not having goods you need. Many businesses don’t have the cash reserves to pay tariffs and wait for customers to pay higher prices. They will receive a $500k container at the dock, pay >$1.2 million with the tariff, and then sweat until they can start to make money off the products. They might face a lead time of 6-12 months before they see any returns. In the meantime, they have to make payroll, pay rent, pay utilities, pay benefits, pay their other suppliers. Many businesses cannot afford to pay an extra 725k up front and they will end up laying off employees and then shuttering. |
? OP what do you mean to do by this post?
Fact: Trump has tanked our economy, acted against the constitution, lowering the taxes for the rich while raising axes for the poor, etc. Fact: the Dems still have no coherent response. And Pelaoi continues to ask me for money. It’s not enough to watch Trump implode. We also need to figure ways who leads the Dems in tbe future. |
Completely disagree. His actions have emboldened China. I wouldn’t be surprised if they invaded Taiwan soon. |
Is that what Fox News is telling you? |
China, Japan and S. Korea are aligning to work together. Trump pushed to of the USA allies into a cooperative trading alliance with China. China's not isolated. Europe is purchasing Chinese EV's not American EVs |
Right, I don't think you isolate China by waging trade war against the entire world. It really says something that other countries now view China as more stable and reasonable than US. |
Cool story |
We can get to the future once we stop the bleeding. Trump is 11 weeks into his presidency. The next election isn’t for 18 months and for president 3 1/2 years. Everyone who loves democracy needs to come together to bring Trump‘s numbers down so low that Republicans will finally unshackle themselves from him. We must continue to expose that the emperor has no clothes so voters will turn on him. We know the cult will never leave him, but they are a small fraction of those who voted for him. |
Export is only 2% of China's GDP. They care but not that much. Trump will knee first. |
MAGAs complain about coastal liberal elitism and arrogance. In reality, MAGAs have unchecked, outdated elitism and arrogance about America's standing in the world. |
