Perhaps this is true. But as a federal employee I can also say there are some blatant lies being said from this administration about what is going on at my agency. They like to play games with semantics (e.g. oh we’re not closing things, we’re consolidating them). Yes through layoffs and building closures but ok 🙄.

So sorry if I have a hard time believing a word out of any of the cabinet members’ mouths.

And the thing is we’ll never really know what they’re telling the truth about or not, so I just have to err on the side of thinking this whole administration is full of $h!t.

You really do not understand how things work so you’d best sit this one out.

Everything is at your own risk right now.

No, for real. Why shouldn't businesses just take care of themselves? If the business is paying for it, why not hire the people themselves? Nobody will answer the question. You all just keep calling people asking it names. Go ahead, answer the question.

There are many government agencies that are funded by industry. For some industries - it is in their interest as it creates a barrier to entry.

And this is the type of brilliant mind making decisions for America right now.

Instead of hacks working for the government? Both systems are rotten. We need new ideas.

Such a trite response. You really think these scientists and technicians etc working for the CDC, previous one of the globes most admired institutions, are hacks? Really?

THIS is the change that made cruises gross? They were fine beforehand?

OK.

They want no accountability for their businesses.

This may have the unintended consequence of decreasing the MAGA population. So there's that.

Because it is helpful that the people looking out for safety have safety as their #1 priority, not the bottom line.

Why did you believe them before this, then?

DOGE may be hiring; you have the right level of intelligence for them.

Are you asking why a business should not police itself?

Are you aware of what food and safety looked like before we had more stringent regulations? Do you think companies do things out of their goodness of their hearts? Do you not understand that companies maximize profits over all? Do you know what that means for health and safety if there is no independent regulation?

I am being serious. I can’t tell if you are. I am concerned.
