Most likely yes. I’m sorry.

They didn’t even offer MLSN2? Are you confident about level of play? My son practiced with Bethesda MLS three times winter of 2023 and the coach provided excellent feedback which gave him a sense that he was not ready for MLSN. He suggested their 2nd team for DS which currently plays NAL - soon to be MLSN2. That feedback helped DS to focus his attention on reaching out to ECNL and NAL teams.

Thanks for that feedback. Reading between the lines, based on your own experience, is it safe to say that you think ECNL/ECNL RL/NAK are good alternatives for someone who isn’t ready for MLSN and/or MLSN2? all the feedback I’ve seen says that these leagues really depend on the region and area and the MLS next two team seems like it will be very competitive specifically at Bethesda.

Meant NAL for comment above. Thoughts about MLSN2 over ECNL RL? Seems like a similar level of travel, but I suspect the quality and competition will be higher. u14 Boy.

I’m the poster whose son didn’t make MLSN at Bethesda. I think Bethesda’s second team (soon to be MLSN2) is usually pretty strong and I believe would beat most RL teams. DS’s team beats RL teams routinely in tournaments but is about to go up against Bethesda and they expect it to be a tough game. It looks like the new MLSN2 program is a combination of existing NAL teams from strong clubs and teams moving over from RL so I’m not sure how consistent the competition will be.

maybe call and bother the coach who is trying to lock down the team he envisions because that always works…

was this offer in writing or verbal?

I think when people refer to an offer, they’re really referring to the email letting you know which team your child was accepted to and with information for you to register. There’s usually a timeline included as well. That’s the formal next step offer.
We had several verbal offers from teams, but it didn’t get serious until those email offers started rolling in.

Please share which ones. I thought DS had missed the window.

Never depend on a verbal offer. We got burned this way at a lower level so I’m sure it happens at the top ones too.

Yes agree. A verbal offer almost doesn’t count. Get that email offer and register and then you can move forward. Clubs are also still looking to supplement their top rosters! They will all have some. Potomac is having supplemental ECNL IDs. MLS and NAL teams will too. Keep an eye out.

Reach out to any MLSN club. If your DS is on a top team, they will invite him out.
