Guest players on club teams when no injuries/absences

If parents would actually RSVP correctly to matches in TeamSnap my kid's coach would not have to invite guest players, but when 5 players are not marked as yes (or no, or maybe, or partial or injured) the day before a match, the Coach needs to make a contingency plan

On our team, nobody respond to the TeamSnap app. It’s not that the coach is unaware of the attendance and worried, we are full roaster and mostly every player shows up but coach will bring in the guest players every weekend. I do think it’s better to have everyone click the RSVP though.

When DS played on B teams this was pretty common practice. It seemed that it was about bringing stronger players to win. On A teams this was far less likely. On his current A team, I have only seen one guest player and that was a player who had already committed to the team for the next season

Are there coach bonuses to win or just mentality to win?
