Being threatened to be sued for writing a negative post?

Anonymous
This whole thread is asinine. Do you really think that a side-hustling pet sitter has the wherewithal to actually file suit against you? For what? Libel? Don't worry about it OP, nothing will come of this.

I predict this pet sitter’s side gig will be short-lived.

The dog has issues and knocks it over. This is why a pet sitter is supposed to come over mid day walk and water them. Are you said pet sitter?

You know they make weighted bowls, right? You don’t take any responsibility for yourself, just blame blame blame and be passive aggressive. Good luck with that.

Who cares about the water. The sitter had an arranged time and came hours later. It could have meant the pet pooped their crate or something too. If there is an agree-upon time, you go at the time. Not hours later.

OP should post screenshots of the threats as comments to her Nextdoor post.

Nothing will happen. Don't respond to the texts. Save them. Block her.

I don’t agree with the tone of the pp, but she is correct. You need to solve this problem. Any pet sitter could have problems getting to your house on any given day. We all experience accidents and unexpected events. No one is perfect. See if a weighted bowl or other contraption might work such that your dog will not be without water after only half a day.

Finding a more reliable pet sitter is fine, but even the most reliable have days where nothing goes according to plan.

Tell her to stop contacting and harassing you, then block her. She outed herself. Don’t delete anything just in case.

This actually happened to one of DH’s friends after a negative Yelp review. First, he received an email threatening a lawsuit for defamation. He ignored it, but then the cease and desist came, asking him to remove the post. He ignored it and then the summons came. He was so willful, it ended up costing him a lot of hassle and money; he actually went to court, where he lost and ultimately had to remove the post anyway. Don’t be like DH friend.

What did he say that was so bad?

I would modify the post and include that you started receiving threats from the pet sitter after posting the review. Spread the word that they are also crazy.

This! I wouldn't say that they are crazy though. I would simply stick to the facts.

For example "Shortly after posting I began receiving threats via text message from the pet sitter."

I would just ignore it and block this person. No one s really going to take the time or energy to sue over a bad review that didn't even mention them by name.
