My 6th grader is not receiving their accommodations in math. I keep getting a song and dance about it (yes, I’m in touch with the Children’s Ed Law Center). The principal and 6th grade assistant principal are creating a culture of “no excuses” that is very inequitable. Neither of them seem to know much about English Language Learners either, which is so odd. Apparently the assistant principal was openly mocking parents at the most recent 6th grade community meeting. Nice. No doubt because they are getting so many complaints. Hoping there’s a shakeup and much better leadership from the top next year. |
Which school is this? |
New poster here. Not Latin Cooper. Those administrative positions don’t fit Latin’s model, and while I may have have some things I don’t love about Latin Cooper, I can’t for a second imagine an administrator openly mocking anyone. They are way too professional (and compassionate) for that. |
Could you please share what you don't love about Latin Cooper? We plan to attend next year, and would like to hear about as many experiences as possible. |
+1. We also plan to attend. We hear really great things but also want to be prepared and realize no school is perfect. |
NP. Right now what I don't love are the facilities, but that will change next year with the new building. I also hear from my child that class experience can really vary depending on the teacher. It sounds like for each subject and grade there is one teacher who teaches all but one section and another teacher that teaches only one class period. Overall, I like Latin more than I thought I would, especially since my child seems to like a lot about it (except the uniform maybe 20% of the time). |
