Another interesting detail I read is that Hegseth’s wife accompanied him on all his Hill office visits when he was lobbying lawmakers during the confirmation process. It had the effect of making some of them reluctant to ask him questions about his messy private life which includes a history of infidelity and accusations of sexual abuse because his wife was sitting right there. It’s the equivalent of taking your spouse to all your job interviews. This photo is from one of his Hill visits.

Can you imagine the uproar that would happen if the opposite happened? A woman bringing her husband to a meeting. It would be seen as weak, and she would be viewed as incompetent.
