London with 18 yo

I am taking my soon to be 18 yo on a trip to London to celebrate his big birthday. We are going in July so it will be hot.

We are going to the final Black Sabbath show for 1 full day(his choice!), but have 4 additional days.

Neither of us have ever been before. He’s not really a museum kid, but very into music and food.

Help me out! Is there anything that is a must see that I should be booking now? Any good deals that I should look out for?

Thank you.

Pub hopping obviously! Great pubs and beer in England so try out several of them. 18 is drinking age there, 16 if with parent.

You will have so much fun!

Love ok into a food tour and maybe a cooking class

You can rent bikes and ride a it to one of the castles stopping at multiple plus for food.

There are really cool archeology tours where people hunt for treasures in the Thames (that’ may not be of interest to your 18 year old but mines would love it so mentioned here

There is the Thames Rocket tour which is a lot of fun.

There are tons of walking tours including a rock music tour (look it up on Viator)

And check out concerts for the dates you are there. Am sure there will be many to choose from!

Give him a little money and a night to himself to wander around and meet girls.

You do realize the average high temperature in London in July is 70 degrees. So unless you’re from Greenland I wouldn’t call that hot. You might get a day or two in the 80s but way more likely to be in the 60s

That’s true but I’ve been in London twice in last 5 years when it’s been sweltering and nothing is set up for that sort of heat. It happens.

Depending on the type of music, there are free or cheap concerts at St Martin in the Fields, the Royal College of Music etc. If you are there in late July, you can go to the Proms, which is a 6 week celebration of music sponsored by the BBC, with multiple concerts daily. There are also musuc performances at the Barbican and the National Theatre.

There are lots of rock musicals in the West End. Check out the TodayTix app.

For food, try Seven Dials Market, Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane Market, and Brixton Market. Peckham is sort of the in area for foodies.

If he posts regularly, visit London Bridge for pictures, my dd18 loved it. She also enjoyed Battersea Power Station for restaurants and walking around.

What about the Harry Potter tour? See if any plays are in London he’d like.
