Many people don’t look at the political forum, so won’t see it. My fear is that those who don’t receive unbiased news are not going to be aware of the dangers to college students and employees. If it is in the college forum, it would be seen.
That being said, I respect your time and opinion. I hope those who are at risk will take precautions and others will warn their loved ones to lay low and not speak out. |
This isn't just happening at Tufts. Its happening at colleges all over the country. This is a political issue. |
Different colleges are responding to this political issue in very different ways. I suspect I am not alone in thinking these issues over as I decide where to send my DC to college/university. |
No one is relying on you to "educate" aka lecture about the matter. Really. This issue has been all over the news, all know what is going on. Just because you say there is danger lurking doesn't mean that there is. Many are happy about the arrests and the detainments. No amount of clever language you use will change anyone's mind. You outrage is not efficacious--at all. |
OP here: that wasn't my post, by the way...and I do not think that the Tufts petition *has* been all over the news -- only in the Boston Globe, which is paywalled & I am guessing most DC folks don't subscribe. Obviously there are many different points of view about all sorts of current events. So, no need to shade others who think differently. I certainly have not. |
Who cares that that particular position hasn't been all over the news...it is a judgment call on your part that the issue is super duper important for people to know so they can rise up and take action!!! But really, you are not going to change anyone's mind by this activism. You are a stranger, and people's minds are not changed by stranger's demands--communication science and psychology note this. Along the same lines, ignoring your instructions to me to "not shade", one, because I did not "shade", and two, who are you? |
I guess I will bow out since this doesn't seem to be productive, but a) I didn't say that people should "rise up and take action," I thought people should be informed (particularly parents who are choosing where to send their kids to colleges, as different college admins have made very different choices in the current charged environment) and b) I am the OP so I am replying to you. Your shade came via 12:19 and the tone you took with that other poster & that you're still taking. Part of the problem in this country currently is that people cannot have disagreements without being snarky and demeaning of others. I have not engaged in "activism," I merely posted information, and if you don't want to read it, move on. Maybe others are interested, and if so, they will read the article. |
NP if you care about the real world so much, you should get off the college threads. Talk about out of touch people. Jeesh. |
