If people can't see the terrifying reality that disappearing people will not simply stop with undocumented migrants (it's already well beyond that and that was evil to start with) then I fear there's no hope. The video of Kristi Noem in front of half naked prisoners in cages is such incredibly powerful Nazi imagery and just like them political dissidents won't be the last. And yes, this is a school issue. It is happening in our schools now. Our kids are aware. They seem and hear and know and I'm glad the HD Cooke staff stepped up but I can't imagine teaching in this environment fearing you or your students or their families may be next. |

Just wanted to note that immigration laws are not *criminal* laws, so being found to have violated an immigration law does not make one a criminal. This distinction isn’t just splitting hairs (it has all sorts of practical consequences), though the current administration admittedly doesn’t seem to understand (or care about?) the difference. |

Right? It would be a little concerning if an undocumented immigrant was employed by a school (assigned to a school on a contract) tbh. You just would like to think that whatever safeguards are in place would find something like that. (Not that undocumented immigrants are likely to be a danger to children or anything, I just presume that a school wouldn't hire one on purpose.) |
