Then?? That's what people thought in '20: Dems won, "done" with Orange. Led by...??? |
Led by Schumer ? ![]() |
No, it just means there are probably a dozen other f-ups that we don't know about. The thing may save us is that most of the people working for Trump are incompetent, stupid, or both. Of course that may doom us too, if there's a terrorist attack, economic crisis, or another pandemic. But I think things getting really bad might be required to cure people of Trump and the GOP. |
Will the people take to the streets to fight against layoffs of federal bureaucrats? Maybe in DC. But not “in the outer provinces” where the author suggests the dissident movement must begin |
You think layoffs of fed workers are the only damage these folks are causing? |
Unfortunately for the republic, Trump is well on his way to this trifecta. It may already be too late, but the signal exposure is probably only the tip of the iceberg which means the administration has been communicating on non-secure channels for months. Our enemies therefore know a lot and Trump has upended our alliances. So there is likely to be an attack on Americans. Trump is destroying our economy. We’ve already dropped from expected growth of about 3% to a likely recession. And measles is spreading. Probably won’t be a pandemic, but for sure lots of deaths and negative effects on the unvaccinated, as well as those whose vaccination status has not been tested. |
On the contrary! Signal-gate will bring down the entire t-rump regime. |
SignalGate is red stupidity. That’s all. Orchestrating this as low intelligence chaos is a slap in the face of the military who carried out this attack. I shudder to think their incompetence was anything more than carelessness, proving they’re unfit for the job. They’re very lucky there were no military casualties. It’s incredibly sad that civilians were also killed. |
Democrats hoping so hard for a measles epidemic. And a deep recession. So they can beat Trump in November 2024. |
Nope. Some of us actually want and work for a functioning government, a healthy economy, and babies who don’t die unnecessarily. Problem is, those of us who want these things just don’t have any power right now. |
Exactly. We’re out of power. That’s why some of us give in to the temptation to wish pain on the voters. It’s not so much to punish them as to help them see their mistake so they can vote more sensibly next time. |
Of course we want a functioning government and a good economy long term. But both of those require Democratic leadership. I’m certainly not working for or wishing for Trump to have a successful four years. That would give voters the wrong idea and lead to worse problems long term |
I'm not wishing pain for anyone. I've lived in MAGA communities with a lot of people who lived in or adjacent to poverty, and this administration breaks my heart.
People everywhere are being crushed by health care costs, by the high cost of housing, by a government that favors the rich again and again, and that does nothing for ordinary people. I am sickened by how MAGA is using people -- tossing crumbs that make them *feel* seen, and all the while funneling ever more money upstream to billionaires. As one example, I know a young mother with a high deductible health plan who is still paying off her daughter's birth from 6 years ago, and will be for another decade...even as she racks up new debt for more recent hospital visits and ambulance rides. She just got hit with a $900 bill for routine lab work when she had an ordinary infection. This mother works a full-time job as an office assistant, cares for her aging mother, and works an unofficial side job in her off-hours, and has to squeeze in fighting insurance companies whenever she can. If she were better off as a result of this administration, I would cheer. But she won't be. Because this administration doesn't care about her, just as doesn't care about her ADHD son who needs an IEP, or her brother who became addicted to opioids after an accident, or about the special needs kid in her family who will never, ever not need care. If this administration took care of these individuals, I would say so. I would take seriously his assault on the rule of law, I would loathe his hateful rhetoric and his attempts to exert his will with plausible deniability by generating stochastic terrorism. But I would also say, "at least he's helping people." But instead he's handing over the keys to the kingdom to the richest man on the planet. It is truly disgusting. |
