A club cannot refuse to release your card as long as you have met your financial obligation to them. If it is a Virginia-based club, you simply reach out to the VYSA travel registrar and explain the situation. They will contact the club and ask if you have fulfilled your financial obligation. Unless the club can prove that you have not, then they have to release your card or VYSA will do it. |
Why do folks need their cards released in middle of season? |
|
Its the end of the season for VA but to answer your question its as simple as wanting to compete in champions league or national finals or a higher level showcase is typically reason enough.

There are rules that prevent kids from going to id camps and training sessions within the same league |
Mostly, to guest play or to switch clubs. |
The player release form in GotSport must be used to release/remove guest and trapped players. |
| yea, my kid is a U16 next season and is switching clubs. She is also try out for newer clubs next March before she even starts playing for her new one |
ECNL says you can't move until May 1. And you can't go between ECNL and GA unless the club directors agree. |
| Wrong, ECNL and GA have zero overlap in regards to governance. May 1 is a placholder for internal ECNL transfers, if its happening before then both club directors would need to approve anything prior to that, so kind true but only to a point. |
Or move big events/tournaments to happen sooner. MLS has a big event in June, by then the team chemistry is dead. |
| or could it motivate a team to find its form in hopes of retaining plsyrtd and/ot attracting replacements. Complaining about this is stale. Everyone knows this happens every spring. |
I just think it needs to be after May 1. I find it sad that the teams are imploding before most spring season has begun. We pay a lot of money to only have cohesion for not even a whole 3-4 months. With winters off of games - it’s like the season is so short. It’s why I prefer spring tourneys to Memorial Day tourneys. |

We have an offer from another club and are considering notifying our current club about our decision not to return by May 1 ... when commitments for next year are due.
Ideally, we'd stay w/our current club and play through the end of the season, inc nat'l playoffs. But if we had to, could leave in May for the other club, and still attend nat'l playoffs ... albeit in another league. First time in this situation. Stay or go? |

There is no logical reason to have tryouts for a fall season in March. that could easily happen mid to late May before Labor day weekend and offers go out after labor day weekend.
What benefit is it to the club to have 17 roster spots locked up in March vs May when the season doesn't start until Aug - it's not like you can start playing as the new team |
