This is like Ashley. In England it’s a boy name and then became a girl name over time. But like Courtney, in the U.S. it is now definitely a girl name. |
Are you asking for examples or asking what we think of the concept? I would think you were weird if you called your son Chrissy but I wouldn't think you were weird if you named him Christopher even though Chrissy could be a nickname for it. |
Why would you want a boys name, then a girl's nn? Seems trying to hard or virtue signaling at the expense of your son. |
I have a DS named Cameron who we call Cammy, and actually know another family who does the same. Obviously I think it’s cute, but it’s mostly an internal family nickname. He’s also still little, and I see him eventually asking us to stop calling him that. |
I also know a couple of male Ashleys. |
My son is Alexander, nn Sacha. Family is Russian/Ukrainian. Only goes by Sacha. |
I love Christopher with the nickname Kit.

I fully believe you they exist...plenty od names that are used for both ( Robin, Kelly, etc) but am not following the example... is court a girl name but not Courtney? If so what is it presumably a nickname for? |
I know both girls and boys called Sasha (Alexander and Alexandra). |
Court sounds more masculine than feminine to me. Back in the early 90s there was a movie called "Man in the Moon"-it started Reese Witherspoon, Jason London, Sam Waterston... Jason London's character was a teenage boy called "Court." I never thought about it till now, but I wonder if his name was supposed to be Courtney, with Court as the nickname? |
That's like the reverse of what the OP is asking for. |
