Didn't President Biden give $12B in grants and loans to the Big 3 and their suppliers to retrofit their plants to manufacture electric vehicles and other advanced vehicles?

They should be the main ones complaining as it seem Trump wants to create a State Automobile Company in Tesla and seems fine with raising the cost of things with Tarriffs on steel while meanwhile hawking Tesla stock.

Seems they should be calling for ethics and law violations by Elon, Lutnick, and Trump.

You are off by an order of magnitude.

And it was spread across a wide variety of companies and suppliers

I will say it’s unclear to me why Biden excluded Tesla from the EV summit. Can a sane person explain what happened there?

Dunno. Don’t think the political climate will allow that. Even MAGA hates Musk at this point.

Tesla was excluded because they'd already been producing EVs for years (and had received massive tax benefits from doing so). Biden was trying to encourage a more widespread manufacturing base.

In other words, Biden sought to create more jobs in the future of green energy and increase competition to keep consumer prices low and quality high. You know vehicles where the side doesn’t fall off on the highway when you’re at speed.

I mean they could have invited Tesla to serve as an advisory role and just not get new grants, but perhaps that is weird to help competitors even if helps common good?

Not yet, but they are getting there by asking the base to buy Tesla vehicles/stocks, death penalty for vandalizing Tesla vehicles, and portraying Elon as a victim of political persecution.

They made the right call. Musk is a Nazi.

Govt programs can certainly be targeted to new ventures for the specific purpose of building broader participation. Plus Tesla vehicles are priced way out of the range of the average car buyer.

Margin call! Margin call! Margin call!

But anyway, the Government is certainly going to bail out Tesla. You know it's going to happen. They tried pushing the cars with Trump. They are trying by pushing the stocks.

But here's the flaw in their plan: Most MAGA do not like EVs. Most MAGA do not own stocks or have 401k accounts.

Musk could have gotten the redneck MAGA onboard with the Cybertruck if he'd named it anything other than truck. They find that offensive and don't view it as a truck. A few of my relatives have said "man, he should have called that thing a cybertank. It'd be cool as hell to own a tank!" Another proposed CyberShip b/c they also think it'd be cool to own a drivable spaceship.

Maybe if he'd had a little more DEI at Tesla, someone not an upper crust, wealthy white guy could have told him these suggestions.

Even a bailout would be temporary. It's over for them. The brand is permanently toxic.

LOL!

Elon's own brother is selling. That tells me all I need to know.

They were excluded because they aren’t unionized

Tim Walz was celebrating the drop in Tesla stock price, without realizing that Minnesota's pension fund has billions invested in Tesla shares.

Dire? Are you kidding? He's the richest man in the world! He has other companies and plenty of money. He can bail himself out.
