Malm is still made...may just not be in stock?

Check them out in stores before buying. None of the drawers pull out far enough to be usable.

Not OP but am also trying to buy a couple of things from IKEA. They show as available but then when you try to check out it says they are unavailable. This is even though I’ve already logged in and the site “knows” my zip code. This might be where differing comments about availability are coming from.

If you're willing to paint, get the TARVA, it's solid wood and has held up really well.

I was just in Ikea, and here is the rundown of the dressers:

Vilhas - most like Malm, second best overall, drawers pull out smoothly.
Hauga - best overall, very sturdy and drawers are smooth.
Hemnes - same old stuff, loose bottom on the drawers, which for me is a deal breaker. Hauga has the same look and is better.
All the others - flimsy and wobbly, would not use any of them.

I like ikea for lots of things...but not dressers. they don't hold up for daily use, they are cumbersome, and some. you are supposed to anchor to the wall. look around at some resellers or on market place and get a real dresser made of real wood.
