Is no one going to talk about the fascism? Meloni is a far right dictator who is actively targeting gay families. |
Yes it is and I feel depressed whenever I come home too. |
I love Italy. The culture seems so civilized- you have to stop drunk and enjoy your coffee- no takeout. simple restaurants have white table cloths, great service and delicious food. Beautiful regions and can go mountains to see quickly. All of this being said, the U.S. has it all and always nice to come home. |
Ha! Pp. have to stop to drink… not drunk |
How hopelessly naive |
I’ve thought about this a lot. The issue isn’t the cost of living - it’s the bureaucracy, difficult to access health care and lack of my own Italian language skills to navigate any of it. |
Perfect vacations, yes, even when things go wrong and wonky, at least the food and drinks are always perfect to make up for it |
But but but the food! |
I did not want to leave Portugal and was planning to fake my death to stay. I had major depression following my return to work and family life. |
Definitely romanticizing this. Yes, fun to visit.
So many Italians left because some areas have lots of crime (Mafia) and few job opportunities. The last time I was there, so many young people were unemployed and living with their parents. And many processes there are so inefficient and bureaucratic. |
Perfect to visit, but deeply xenophobic. |
Absolutely perfect except their combined washing machine/dryers. I would move in an instant! |
It’s common for young adults to live with parents in many place. Italians go out, have good meals, dress fashionably, work, travel, spend time with friends. It’s a nice lifestyle |

Health care defenitely is not perfect. Birth rate is among the lowest on earth, there is a reason for it.
