How much to chip in for rec. team sport

I volunteer as a coach for a lot of sports since a lot of parents won't do it. It's a ton of hours beyond the scenes in addition to practice and games. So I usually throw at least $40

+1. I usually give $20. I collected once and it ran the gamut from $5-$50 (or, really, $0-$50 since some families gave nothing).

More importantly, I also volunteer as a coach.

Yikes PP.

I usually do $25 per coach for rec. often that gets divided differently depending on the coaches actual roles.

While I find most people are pretty generous, very few people will actually initiate the collection. So I have done it tons and tons of times. You know who gives the most? The parents of the unathletic kid who finally found rec coaches who do their job and treat the least skilled kids exactly the same way that they treat the most skilled kids. Those kids don’t get to experience that much and their parents are usually so appreciative. I had a mom give $300 (!) on a team with three coaches. 12 year old kid. First good team sport experience of his life. Mom was crying talking to me about it. Makes me sad that there aren’t more coaches like that. Especially with the major increase in travel offerings. Let rec be what it is supposed to be. Accessible to everyone.

I've also collected a few times when no one else initiated and was pretty amazed that literally every family chipped in. It was honestly kind of heartwarming that people cared enough to do so.

I give $20 per coach, so if on a team with multiple coaches, will give $40 or $60.

But it was usually an 8 to 10 week season and we had repeat coaches a few seasons who we really valued.
