Free menstrual products in bathrooms

Why are we wasting money on printing worksheets? Kids won't fill them out.

Why are we wasting money on classrooms? Kida will just play hooky.

They can't even keep the bathrooms unlocked.

Op here and I agree that we as parents we owe it to our girls to keep them properly supplied. That’s not the school‘s responsibility.

That said I don’t oppose products being kept in the health room, or in the main office. But I don’t support adding machines that will surely be vandalized and supplies plundered. That will be an enormous waste of money.

It is as much the school’s responsibility as providing toilet paper. Do we not do that bc of potential vandals?

Can't recall the last time I saw or heard of vandalized TP holders with girls shoving rolls of tp in their purse and pack. As for other products, all the time emptied. Agree that the health room or the front office or even the library are great options.

Make the machines token operated.

Put a few tokens out and refill as needed.

If tokens are used at a suspiciously high rate, investigate.

If someone is hoarding menstruation productions, it's because they can't afford them otherwise.

Hygiene products are actually a pretty big hole in the social safety net because you can't use benefits such as SNAP-WIC to purchase them.

So every time a girl needs a pad or a tampon she needs to run to the nurse first? You must be a guy.

Girls have been going to school for a long time. We all managed to figure this out. If you want to donate some boxes, the nurse could give a box to a FARMS student. But at some point, people need to step up and provide for themselves.

This was approved back in 2021. Already in place.

I don’t care if girls take extras to use at home or even to share with other family members in need. I strongly prefer that over any girl missing school because she can’t afford menstrual products.

A lot of girls are absent when they have their periods, some due to inadequate access to hygiene products. This is a relatively small cost that can have a big impact for some students.

Yes, some girls “figured it out” by staying home when they’re menstruating. Shame on pp for being so petty. These are children.

The war on women continues...

I truly hate Republicans.

This is the norm at every school and college etc I’ve ever been to. Period products are expensive and should be free for all, and provided.

The real problem is that the products will all be flushed down toilets, as a joke, just like toilet paper rolls are. The bathrooms will flood and it will be a regular mess to clean up. Put the products in the health room and move on to another complaint, folks.

Since someone said this was approved on 2021, curious whether it has worked?
My daughter never used the bathroom in her HS because of all the girls doing drugs or on their phones in the stalls — never any free stalls open. She’d just hold it and go at lunch at a fast food restaurant.

I’ll ask my younger daughter if they have them at her MS but I know bathroom access is also an issue there.
