Why do atheists and anti-theists care about the beliefs of religious people?

I’m not sure I agree with your premise.

Religion is easy to exploit to cynical and unholy purposes of financial and political gains. Many of us strongly disagree with that

Religious freedom and separation of church and state are very important for healthy democracies.

Personal religious beliefs and freedoms, which every American has, is protected by our government.

There is just so much stupid in our country - it’s mind boggling.

You believe religion is made of “stupid arguments?”

I’m sure there were some smart ideas behind it. Control the masses. Keep the kids in line with the carrot and the stick.

But the dumb ahh religious comments on DCUM? Not so much.

I see the moderation team deleting any posts that are considered proselytizing by Christians on this forum.

Why are atheists and anti-theists allowed to proselytize here but not Christians?

Are facts and science “proselytizing”?

Science and scientists do not try to prove or disprove God or supernatural phenomena as they do not have to tools and knowledge to do so.

Are DCUM posters presenting facts and science “proselytizing”?

What science and facts are you referring to?

Same reason, just the opposite perspective.

I will note that not one atheist I know complains when a theist attempts to defend their position. They relish the chance to discuss it, in fact.

Wonder why that is?

When atheists represent God incorrectly (God gives babies cancer) is when I care.

If I posted that atheists sacrifice babies to Satan you would care, because it’s an obvious and disgusting lie.

Constantly posting that God gives babies cancer and allows them to suffer and dir because He is a cruel bastard is definitely on that level. It’s not true.

Here’s the big flaw in your argument:

Atheists are PEOPLE. You have evidence whether what you say about them is true or not. That’s why it would be ridiculous if you made the claim about them sacrificing babies.

God (as commonly defined) is illogical, and the problem of evil is one of the most obvious examples of evidence of that fact. No atheist actually believes that god gives children cancer. Because there is likely no god as defined. But most theist beliefs require this premise to be true, as per the famous Epicurus quote posted in another thread:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

― Epicurus

The fact that it spins believers into frenzy is because there really is no rational justification for the belief.

I’m a Christian and I only have a problem with people’s religion when they use it as a weapon to harm others or a cloak to hide their own biases and ignorance.

Epicurus was not an atheist, although he rejected the idea of a god concerned with human affairs; followers of Epicureanism denied the idea that there was no god.

In Christianity, disease is believed to be a result of sin and the fall of humanity.

God doesn't exist. God is a concept that was created by humans. Happy to clear that up for you.

Are you showing us the kind, tolerant and intelligent atheist, who is the foil for the mean and intolerant Christian?

When my aunt was dying a "Christian" in the hospital told my mom it was because someone in her family had sinned and they all needed to repent. My mom was absolutely shaking with rage. So there are definitely Christians who go around telling people God gives their relatives cancer.

Nice job avoiding the point. In kind, Hitler was a vegetarian and George Washington had wooden teeth. All irrelevant to the conversation.

Answer the questions Epicurus asks. The problem of evil is the best evidence that the kind of god most believe in does not and can not exist.
