I think we found our new motto! Certainly fitting.

Taylor, science focus, innovation, and long branch are all on east side of the county (east of glebe) north of Arlington Blvd.

We are in the alternative facts age. Why give us facts?

Fun fact - back in the late 70s/early 80s Woodmont closed and sent its kids to Taylor because both had declining populations. Would be ironic to close Taylor and for them to send their kids to yet another school.

The APS board continues to prioritize administration over students, pouring more money into bureaucracy while cutting essential resources for schools. Take a look at the upcoming budget proposal—it slashes school funding while leaving Duran’s bloated administration untouched.

Meanwhile, Taylor recently received upgrades, but the focus wasn’t on classrooms or students—it was on building a secure, spacious new office for administrators.

Well, I mostly agree with you. Except that new front was due to school shootings and Taylor was the last school in the county to have the safety entrance installed. My take is that admin and underperforming students are APS priority. Taylor is too rich and white to make it worth making nice. I concede Jamestown suffers the same fate, except those parents are way louder and more organized.

Taylor is a lot more working parents — the extended day and a huge waitlist, probably because of its location to commute routes. Jamestown is more like McLean with SAHM I suspect and have time to organize. We should all ban together for better facilities.

“ Those contending that Arlington’s school system is top-heavy might have gained some ammunition via the Baker Tilly report.

Analysts compared the number of top administrators at local school districts, finding that Arlington has a “considerably higher proportion of administrators compared to the larger districts.””

Taylor is the only school on the East side of North Arlington. I agree it should be torn down but it should be rebuilt.

No it's not the only school on the East side, that's fake news

Even if it were, "the east side of north Arlington" is getting pretty specific!

That was 40-50 years ago!

In the 1980s there was a low birth period and LOTS of APS elementary schools were closed—across Arlington—not just Woodmont.

Those “impacted families” were families with kids….who are now almost 50 years old. I don’t think ironic is the right word. This is the thing about Arlington Public Schools, some crazy person is worried about 50 year old “kids.” A public school system has to manage its buildings for best use over 50 year time horizons.

I just wish they weren’t engaging in this nonsense every FEW years. It’s poor planning by them and very disruptive for families. Not those old families!!!!
