| the current gov't can GFI |
| Yes, by category such as: potato chips (and similar), sodas, sugary cereal to start. |
Have you been to a grocery store lately? A family size bag of apples is about the same cost as a family size bag of doritos. Beans, legumes, rice, frozen vegetables, and water are all infinitely more healthy and considerably cheaper than a ton of processed food at the grocery store. |
Well if you just randomly pick items out of thin air, sure. But ounce for ounce, an apple is cheaper than its processed counterpart, applesauce. Corn tortillas (or masa harina if you really want to start from scratch) plus frying oil is cheaper, ounce for ounce, than a bag of Doritos. |
| I mean a hard-boiled egg is processed food. Kernels popped into popcorn is a process. Grilling or baking a chicken breast is processed food. Raw fish that gets baked in the oven is processed. How do you define "processed" food? |
| Absolutely not. We can make our own choices. |
| Absolutely. Processed food is killing us. |
Whole foods has plenty of processed junk |
| I mean I would prefer an assault weapons ban before a ban on grocery store bread. |
Yes to the above. Subsidize regenerative farming, please. |
|
Yes to ultra processed, chemical food coloring, and preservatives that have been shown to cause cancer yet our fda still allows them in small amounts. Problem is we are not actually consuming it in small amounts because it is in so much.
This is at root of or worsening Americans health issues. Whether it be cognitively based or physical eating so much poison exacerbates inflammation and interrupts the endocrine system and cellular processes. |
| Are you talking about ultra processed food OP? I don’t think anyone wants to ban apple slices (processed food). |
No. I would not support a ban like this. |
|
A ban? No
Would I support improved nutrition education in schools, and improved food labeling so people have a better sense of what choices are healthiest? Probably Would I support increased restrictions that take some of the most problematic ingredients out, like they have in the EU? Probably Would I support taxing certain ultra processed foods, and then using those tax dollars to subsidize people having access to healthier foods? Probably |
| No |
