Traffic still slow?

Just saw on the evening local news that on Tuesday, the NoMa station had more riders than it has had on any day in its 21-year history.

Traffic is again horrible this morning.

My entire office is up in arms over how bad the traffic is suddenly. We are coming from all over - VA, MD, etc., but unfortunately work in an area of DC where there is not great public transportation, we are not by a metro stop.

Some come very early by 6/6:30am and even then are still noticing that it is worse, they are hitting traffic as they get close in that they did not used to hit.

DC's Department of Transportation is trying to make congestion worse because they are convinced it will force everyone to take public transportation which will be better for the environment.

Uh, going to say the very sudden increase in congestion is the return to in person work order for feds. I truly wish I could take public transportation, but my DC work location is not near a metro. I would take the VRE if I could.

It's way worse than it was before the pandemic. DDOT has been very open about their recent efforts to intentionally increase congestion.

This thread is specific to RTO impacts on traffic, start a different thread if you want to talk about the ten year trend.

Specifically, it is suddenly horrifically worse in the past week or so related to the RTW order. I have been commuting since well before the pandemic so well aware of how traffic has been, thanks.

+1 The people under mandatory RTO were fired.

Um, no it isn't and it is important to realize how those two things are connected. This is exactly what people have been saying would happen.

That is absolutely untrue. Please expand where you get your information from. Not every fed was fired yet we are under a RTO.

Lots of people frustrated with commute times and traffic after RTO.

Will say it was ok for me this morning, but it is always better on Fridays anyways.

RTO is still being rolled out because some agencies did not have the space.

Traffic will get progressively worse; just watch.
