| How about someone tough on crime, but pro-choice? |
Racine said he was afraid to even pump his own gas in the District for fear of getting carjacked, an immediately disqualifying remark. Funny thing is, he had a lot to do with creating those conditions. |
Always appreciated his honesty on that. I never feared gassing up, but I hated being the only car on the road when I came home from a night shift. |
Racine is the main reason of the raise of juvenile crime in DC. "In the letter, sent out Friday, the mayor writes that the Attorney General and the D.C. Council have contributed to the rise in youth violence last year by not holding juvenile criminals accountable." https://www.fox5dc.com/news/dc-mayor-attorney-general-exchange-blame-for-youth-violence |
You’re blaming Mayor Bowser because a decrepit president and the power-hungry billionaire who owns him want to destroy the federal government using the project 2025 playbook — even though neither of them knows or cares how government actually works? |
You sound dumb. When politicians like Mr. Cooke leave office, of course they are highly sought defense counsel for other politicians. They know the ropes - they are the best people to prepare a defense. You must be new here. |
IMO, her response was the most pragmatic one. Trump holds most of the cards here, so her telling him to F off might feel good in the moment, but it's not exactly going to be productive. It'll probably do more harm than good. She's gotta play the long game here. Besides, there are always a couple of things any two politicians can agree on. Nothing wrong with that. |

"DC officials prepare for Trump’s next executive order that would give the feds more influence in the District."
She is not tough enough for sure. Trumps owns Bowser. "D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser was briefed on the matter and indicated on Wednesday a willingness to work with administration officials on a host of issues." https://wtop.com/dc/2025/02/dc-officials-prepare-for-trumps-next-executive-order-that-would-give-the-feds-more-influence-in-the-district/ |

She was also called out about this recently and of course had nothing to say:
From the reddit FedNews sub: Bowser can jump in a lake. She got in bed with Trump and pushed hard for RTO, thinking feds would suddenly want to drop $20 for a salad at Chopt or whatever after being forced to increase their commuting costs several hundred a month. Congresswoman Jasmine Crocket called her out on it in a hearing late last year - I might be paraphrasing a bit but it was a hearing on Federal Employees and Telework that Bowser went to "You keep pushing for federal employees to come back into the office more, even going so far as to travel to Maralago to meet with President Elect Trump to push for this. Please tell me, Ms. Mayor, how the DC economy will benefit from tens of thousands or more DC Area feds resigning, moving from the area, or being fired by the new administrations intended efforts?" - deer in headlights look from Bowser. I gotta find the clip. https://www.reddit.com/r/fednews/comments/1irqsrl/dc_housing_market_in_chaos_as_federal_employees/ |
I suspect the deal was push RTO, the feds can have control of the District, Bowser gets RFK stadium and leaves to join Events DC. |
I have not liked Bowser, but I agree with this, mostly. I also think she's tougher than she appears in some areas. She's gotten some stuff done. She's been decent in development, which is likely the only thing that could appeal to Trump. TRump/Musk is now a total wild card. All bets are off in terms of what might happen. As for Racine and Cooke - they're why we're in this problem of juvenile crime. No thank you to both. |
