Check out the JW Marriott Essex Hotel by Central Park. You can get a 1BR suite connecting to another room. The suite isn’t really a suite, it’s a big room. But the two rooms are the corner of the hotel with an outside door for both, creating a suite. It worked really well for us separating adults from kids. Sorry if I’m not describing it well. |
Stayed in a lot of NYC hotels and can't think of a single one that had a roomy bathroom.
What are you planning to do in the city? Are your kids OK hotel sleepers? Jersey City might be easier. |
The former Conrad Midtown, now a luxury collection hotel is all suites and in a great location close to central park. |
Sonesta Gardens Suites is decent sized for families by NYC standards. I’d get a pack n play and keep the kids in the bedroom with you, but then hang out to watch tv in the main area after they go to sleep. Otherwise you have to tip toe around to the kitchen and stuff while they take over the main room. |
Hotel Eventi (a Kimpton) has suites that have a nice, heavy door between the bedroom and living area AND a very large bathroom you could easily fit a pack and play. |
+1 |
AirBnB. |
This is my question, too. I’ve BTDT and it’s torture. Also, NYC has the tiniest hotel rooms in the country. |
Hyatt House in Jersey City. Parking is ~$25 a day. They usually have a deal on suites if you partially book with points. They serve hot breakfast and are right next to the Exchange Place path station which takes you right to WTC in minutes. There’s a great playground outside the station and a park to run around. The ferry from Paulus Hook is also a short walk, and from Brookfield Place Terminal, there’s another great playground. |
A lot of posters are recommending specific hotels, but I see in the OP that she isn't looking for something "super expensive." OP, it might help if you specify what your price limit is |
You could also go to the liberty science center. |
I vote Jersey City too. |
People are so grumpy. I have traveled since my kids were babies and it never been miserable. |
Those are very hard to come by in NYC, lots of restrictions |
1 Hotel in Brooklyn is near a ton of parks and playgrounds |
