Student council co-president for grade. Wants to major in politics/government. Strong interest in political organizing. Wants a small, politically active college.

Choices in order of reach
Wesleyan
Wellesley
Mount Holyoke
Sarah Lawrence
Reed
Lewis & Clark

What else? Did not like the vibe at Smith College, also considering Pitzer but have heard mixed things about livability.

B+/A- seems pretty low. Is this private? Where in class? Think you are ranking Reed too low; they might think kid can’t handle the intense work.
Wesleyan and Wellesley? Would not recommend, even for ED. Without knowing more, would go with Mount Holyoke ED1…

You must be in Maryland. Not all publics have grade inflation 🙄

A 3.5 unweighted? You must be from the 1980s.

Please. B+/A- is “pretty low”? Your school must grade inflate.

Wesleyan doesn’t like B’s. My DC child similar stats didn’t make it through the preread with a couple of B’s.

Yes, this. Wesleyan, Wellesley, and Reed are not in reach with those stats. Doesn't your school have Naviance so you can compare your DC's stats to admitted students? I'd pick one of the other three to ED.

TBH it's about more than "stats" when getting into a college these days. That trend is about four years old; the process is changing to become far more holistic and FAR less of a numbers game due to backlash. Happy to go into more detail in a separate post. But also, those "stats" are actually great, especially for Reed.

I am Wes alum who interviewed for them. These stats are nowhere near Wes. But can look at your school’s Naviance.

Bryn Mawr possible, the others are out of range.

DP: What distinguishes Wesleyan from Yale? Does it have sort of an inferiority complex as a plan B school if you didn't get into Yale, or is it very different? Not being snarky; genuinely curious why someone would choose it over Yale.

Wellesley will be a reach
As another poster said, Bryn Mawr could be a good fit.
St Olaf is another one to consider

These stats are too low for Pitzer or Reed.

For a more "likely" school, Willamette is right next to the Oregon state capitol, so there are a lot of opportunities to get involved: https://willamette.edu/academics/college/politics/

Is this private or public? DC Area? If this is DC area, I'd so no to Wesleyan and Wellesley. These are small schools some of who fill a good part of the class ED. I'd pick one to ED to.

I think Pitzer would be perfect for her - and it would allow her to take classes at the rest of the consortium, including Claremont McKenna which is particularly strong for politics/government. My dd loved Pomona and almost went there. Also Pitzer is an easier admit than Pomona, CM and Harvey Mudd.

Mine was admitted RD with a couple Bs. Just for reference. I agree that Wes is a far reach for OP.

OP, how about. Bard or Skidmore?
