| PP they may be assembled in the US and China but where are all those parts coming from? There will be tariffs on the parts coming in to be assembled in Michigan, Texas, Kansas, and Tennessee. |
| I'm not buying. My car is 12 years old. If I only have to spend one or two thousand a year to keep it running, I'm keeping it. |
| We just replaced both our cars that were 12 and 13 years old. When their that old expensive repairs happen. |
| I got a new car a month ago in case tariffs became real. I guess I’m glad now that I took the risk. |
| There is not a single car on the market that is made of entirely U.S. parts. Nope. All cars will be affected. This won't be popular and he will probably backtrack in a couple of weeks. |
true but all will pay more for these existing cars because those contemplating a purchase will rush out to buy one which will motivate sellers to increase prices. supply and demand |
Not really. A good quality automobile is, essentially, infinitely repairable. People replace their cars at 12 or 13 years old because they are out of fashion. |
Or they are more expensive to repair than the car is worth. It's hard to dump 5-8k into a 20 year old Dodge (not a pickup) |
Same |
That would be moronic. A 20 year old dodge is probably worth $3k. |
| So my Honda that's made in Alabama will not be hit as hard? I would buy a Sienna also, but I dislike the US brand minivans. |
Agreed, but you're starting with a different premise: a bad quality automobile. My point is that my daily driver '96 Toyota 4Runner has no end in sight with 360,000 miles because I just keep up with the maintenance. There are lots of Toyotas and Hondas with similar stories. |
You really think that’s the goal? This is all about musk trying to get rich?? You’re stupid. |
Yep, there may be parts from *shhh* Canada. |
Absolutely tariffs will affect existing inventory. Dealers have to restock. Prices will go up by up to 25% overnight. Demand will increase for used cars, driving those prices higher too. |
