That's normal for a drive. Kids who take metro can have longer commutes due to walking to the stop at either end. My kids have a 20-30 minute drive, but door to door metro home can take close to an hour. |

Our oldest who is in HS commutes 30-40 minutes in the morning by carpool and about 45 minutes home by metro. He loves the school and doesn’t mind the commute at all.
One morning he needs to be there really early for a sports workout. The other days he needs to be there by 8:30, so he is able to sleep until around 7. Since we’re in a carpool, DH or I only drive once a week. DH works near the school so he usually does it. DS takes the metro home and really likes it. He likes the independence and takes it with a group of friends, stops to get something to eat on the way there, etc. I think logistics of getting there and back are equally important as length of the commute. |
