MCPS math placement question

MCPS educator here. Agree with previous poster. Email and make an appointment to discuss placement. The school should have done pre-assessing and will have scores from last year. You need to know why this placement was made.

What happens if child did NOT attend MCPS last year? When are they assessed?

I'd call the school and ask how they handle it. Different schools may have different procedures.

Or, they may want to base it all on the pre-assessment for first quarter placement, which you may or may not feel produces an appropriate result. In that case you could ask for a meeting and show textbooks and report cards from the previous school.
